Adventures with Theodicy! (Sermon, Feb. 28, 2016)

Hello Friends!

In today’s Gospel (Luke 13:1-9), Jesus addresses, theodicy, which, in a nutshell, means trying to answer the eternal question of why God allows evil to exist in the world if God is all powerful.  Of course, Jesus didn’t know this term, it didn’t show up until the 1700s, but the question is the same.  The people wonder why Pilate slaughtered the Galileans that he slaughtered and why a tower fell on those specific 18 people.  They must have been horrible sinners or God would have saved them, right?  Well, Jesus says “no” to this idea.  Take a listen:
